After Francesco Molinari’s thrilling Open Championship victory last week, it was up to the veterans to match it at The Senior Open – and they didn’t disappoint. Fan-favourite Miguel Angel Jimenez walked away victorious at St. Andrews, after a final round of 69 put him at 12-under-par, one shot ahead of defending champion Bernhard Langer.

The difference that the wet and windy conditions made throughout the round was obvious – Peter Fowler failed to reach the 465-yard 13th green with a good drive and 3-wood, only for Jimenez to find the putting surface with a mid-iron three hours later. Remember to think about how the conditions could affect your game the next time you're out on the course.

The golf doesn’t stop there though, as the Women's British Open kicks off on Thursday at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club, with home-favourite Charley Hull hoping to improve on last year’s 16th placed finish and win her first major.

She’ll be up against stiff competition, not least from Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn, who won last week’s Scottish Open. The South Korean contingent also impressed at Gullane Golf Club, despite many of them not growing up playing links golf.

However, the course at Royal Lytham & St Annes is a different challenge altogether, testing mental strength as much as golfing skill. A frightening 169 bunkers are scattered throughout, meaning there is danger around almost every corner. It should be a fascinating four days of golf.
