So Close Yet So Far

It was a case of so close yet so far for Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell and Argentine team-mate Emiliano Grillo, as they finished agonizingly short in the QBE Shootout in Florida, missing out on top spot by a single stroke. The event, which follows a fourball format, was won by Americans Patton Kizzire and Brian Harman, who finished on -30 after a final round of 61. Tony Finau and the LPGA’s Lexi Thompson finished on -23.

Meanwhile, it was an emotional victory for 2010 Open winner Louis Oosthuizen, as he claimed his first South African Open over the weekend – the first time the South African has won the tournament. An eagle and five birdies in his final round meant that Oosthuizen ended the tournament on -18 under – a record-equaling six shots clear of second place. England’s Oliver Wilson finished on -10, in a tie for third place.

Do you spot a trend?

We all want to enjoy playing golf, and a big part of this is lowering our handicap. Yes, there will be times when your game isn't up to scratch and you go up .1 a few times in a row, but there'll also be times when all of the puzzle pieces fit and your handicap tumbles.
